Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chelsea

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success is rooted in resilience, determination, and a belief that growth comes from embracing life's challenges. As both a leader and a mother, I have learned the importance of adaptability, perseverance, and staying focused on what matters most. My children and fiancé are my greatest motivation, inspiring me every day to strive for excellence and create opportunities for others. I am also deeply influenced by the examples set by my father and grandmother, whose strength, work ethic, and unwavering commitment to family helped shape the person and leader I am today.

I am grateful for the mentors, especially Thaddeus, Tony, and Greg, as well as the leaders and organizations that have invested in my growth, challenged me to think differently, and encouraged me to pursue goals that once felt out of reach. Through every stage of my career, I have remained committed to serving others, leading with empathy, and creating meaningful impact in both the workplace and the community. Those values continue to guide me as I work toward my future aspirations in executive HR leadership and entrepreneurship.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received has come from my family and mentors, who taught me the importance of resilience, accountability, and hard work. They encouraged me to embrace constructive feedback, remain committed to continuous improvement, and view challenges as opportunities for growth. Their guidance has helped shape both my leadership style and my approach to developing others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice is to remember that success doesn't require a perfect or traditional path. As a widowed mother of four who did not complete a traditional college degree, I built my career through determination, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping people. Hospitality and human resources are fundamentally about people, and every exceptional guest experience begins with a positive employee experience. Stay committed to learning, gain meaningful experience, persevere through life's challenges, and never allow setbacks to define your future. Keep moving forward, believe in your potential, and know that your perseverance can inspire others to do the same.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges is navigating generational differences within today's workforce while fostering effective, empathetic communication among employees and leaders. Building inclusive workplace cultures where individuals feel valued, respected, and supported requires intentional leadership and adaptability. At the same time, there are tremendous opportunities to develop leaders, strengthen workplace culture, create meaningful employee engagement, expand internal career advancement, and scale effective HR practices across multiple locations. Investing in people ultimately strengthens both employee satisfaction and organizational success.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are empathy, integrity, resilience, service, and continuous growth. I believe that every person deserves to feel respected, supported, and valued, regardless of their role or circumstances. As a human resources leader, I strive to create environments where people feel empowered to succeed, develop their strengths, and reach their full potential.

Resilience has been a defining value throughout my life, teaching me to navigate challenges with determination while continuing to move forward with purpose. Integrity guides my decisions, ensuring I lead with honesty, accountability, and fairness. I am also deeply committed to serving others, whether that means supporting a team member through a difficult time, mentoring an emerging leader, or giving back to my community through volunteer initiatives.

Above all, I believe in leaving people better than I found them. Whether as a leader, mentor, mother, partner, or community advocate, I want my impact to be measured by the positive difference I make in the lives of others. Those values influence every decision I make and continue to shape the person and leader I aspire to be.
