Her Story

About Chelsea

Chelsea Eady Yisrael is a surgical technologist with experience supporting surgical and interventional procedures in fast-paced healthcare environments. She currently serves as a Surgical Technologist at Advanced Urology, where she assists surgeons during interventional radiology procedures. Her previous surgical experience includes supporting obstetrical procedures such as Cesarean sections, ophthalmic surgeries, trauma cases, and other operating-room procedures requiring strict sterile technique and careful anticipation of the surgical team's needs.

Yisrael began her professional career in transportation, working as a truck driver and serving in the U.S. Army Reserve as an 88M Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator/Repairer. Her transition into surgical technology led her to pursue formal training at Miller-Motte College, where she earned an associate degree in Surgical Technology. She also studied Business Administration and Management at Purdue Global, adding a business perspective to her healthcare experience. Her military and professional background have reinforced the discipline, composure, organization, and attention to detail required in surgical environments.

Beyond her clinical career, Yisrael is committed to supporting women and children in her community. She serves as a fundraising coordinator for Hospitality House, helping support battered women with needed financial assistance, and is the founder of She's Not Street, an initiative focused on helping girls. She approaches her career with determination and integrity and encourages the next generation of women in surgical technology to pursue challenging skills, continue learning, and never take shortcuts when developing their professional abilities.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chelsea

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to determination, integrity, ambition, and a willingness to work hard. I believe in remaining compliant with standards, continuously improving my skills, and pushing myself to become better rather than taking the easiest path.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women entering surgical technology to learn everything they can and challenge themselves to master the most difficult skills. Rather than looking for the easiest route, take on challenging opportunities, build your knowledge, and develop the confidence and competence needed to succeed in demanding clinical environments.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges is maintaining composure in fast-paced and stressful surgical environments while simultaneously anticipating the needs of both the surgeon and the patient. Surgical technologists must remain focused, prepared, and responsive even when circumstances become difficult.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Determination, integrity, compliance, ambition, and hard work are central to how I approach my professional and personal life. I believe in doing things the right way, maintaining high standards, and remaining committed even when situations become challenging.
