Her Story

About Chelsie

I actually thrive when things are busy and there are multiple priorities competing for my attention. Some people find that overwhelming, but I enjoy problem-solving and figuring out how to bring structure to chaos.

One of the ways I stay organized is through detailed planning. I'm a big list-maker and rely heavily on time blocking throughout my day. I'll set aside dedicated blocks of time for high-priority projects or difficult-to-fill roles so I can give them my full attention and make sure every detail is covered. Having that structure helps me stay focused while still being flexible enough to handle unexpected issues as they arise.

As a leader, I also believe in making sure my team has the information and resources they need to be successful. By staying organized and keeping priorities clear, I'm able to support them while ensuring important work continues moving forward. There's a lot of satisfaction in solving problems, crossing items off the list, and helping the team achieve our goals, especially in a fast-paced environment.

01What do you attribute your success to?

One of the biggest contributors to my success is my husband. He is my greatest supporter and honestly knows me better than anyone. We both work from home, so he has a unique perspective on my day-to-day challenges and understands the work I do.

When I get stuck on a problem or become overly focused on something that's frustrating me, he's often the person who helps me step back and see the bigger picture. He has a way of reminding me not to get caught up in things that aren't truly important and encourages me to take a break, clear my head, and come back with a fresh perspective.

Beyond that, he's an incredible sounding board. Sometimes he'll challenge my thinking, suggest a different approach, or help me identify resources and connections I hadn't considered. Having someone who is willing to listen, offer honest feedback, and help me problem-solve has been invaluable throughout my career.

While hard work, organization, and perseverance have certainly played a role in my success, I don't think enough people acknowledge the importance of having a strong support system. For me, my husband has been a huge part of that, and I'm incredibly grateful for the role he's played in helping me grow both personally and professionally.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My biggest advice would be to focus early on building strong communication skills and consistent follow-through. In recruiting and HR, things move quickly and priorities shift often, so being clear, responsive, and reliable really sets you apart.

I would also encourage young women to trust their judgment and speak up, even when they are earlier in their careers. It can be easy to feel like you need more experience or seniority before your input matters, but everyone brings value at every level.

At the same time, being open to feedback is key. The people who tend to grow the fastest are the ones who can take feedback, adjust quickly, and keep moving forward without taking things personally.

I also think it’s important to protect your professional reputation. You’re often working with candidates and providers who are making major life and career decisions, so consistency, honesty, and communication really matter.

Overall, staying organized, communicating often, and building trust go a long way in this field, especially when things inevitably get busy or complex.
