Her Interview
Ten minutes with Chelske
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being genuine and authentic. What you see is what you get. I show up as I am and am honest about my ups and downs. I make people comfortable and create a safe space for others. Networking and stepping out of my comfort zone has also played a big role.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received was about networking. You never know who somebody is, so talk with people and put yourself out there. Also be honest about your ups and downs because nobody's perfect and we're all learning.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My biggest advice is to network and put yourself out there to whatever your comfort level is. Show up authentically, share your story, share your aspirations and goals. Don't keep your goals a secret because that does yourself a disservice.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is setting ourselves apart since apartments are similar, so leaning into the people and customer service. Also keeping the human aspect when dealing with residents who are struggling financially, being a safe space rather than just collecting rent.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity and honesty are most important. Growing up my dad told me if you don't lie, you don't have to remember what you said. The truth does not always feel good but being upfront gets you to the answer faster.
