About Cheri

Cheri Allen serves as a shuttle bus supervisor in Louisville, Kentucky. She has worked in the transportation field since 2012 and has been supervising shuttle bus operations for about three years. Allen works at UPS Worldport, where she manages a fleet of 36 buses to transport employees across the facility, ensuring packages and planes depart on time. She began her career as a paratransit driver at TARC3, later obtained medical certifications, and returned to transportation as a school bus driver and supervisor at Miller Transportation before progressing to motor coach operations. Allen attributes her success to God and the strong work ethics modeled by her parents. Outside of her professional role, she has run her own charity supporting families in need in her local area for about six years. She values family above all and emphasizes respect in the workplace. Allen advises aspiring professionals, especially young women in transportation, to pursue work they love, prioritize quality and safety, and commit to continuous growth.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute it to God, and also, to my parents, who showed me great work ethics throughout my life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the best career advice that I've ever gotten is do something you love, and you won't stray away from it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Advice that I would give a young woman entering my industry would be to always look to grow. Not quantity, but quality. Always give out quality work, always put safety first, and love what you do.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The greatest challenges that I think in my field, it's technology. Human error, but technology is taking over. Transportation is a growing field, it always has been, especially for commercial and commodity. So, I don't think it's a field that'll phase out.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family is most important, and respect in the work field. Respecting family, it goes a long way.
