Her Story

About Cheri M.

Cheri M. Greene is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, serving clients from her office in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She joined the firm more than 24 years ago, in 2001, as a floater handling administrative tasks across multiple branch offices before moving into a full-time administrative role. Her path to becoming an advisor was gradual and deliberate: after years of hands-on experience within the firm, she earned her Series 7 and Series 66 licenses in 2014, and in 2023 she stepped fully into her role as a Financial Advisor. Today, Cheri focuses on helping families navigate financial planning for retirement and other major life events, frequently meeting with clients in their homes throughout the Charleston area. She finds particular fulfillment in guiding her community through topics that extend well beyond retirement alone, including education savings, income planning, Medicare, and estate considerations, helping clients think holistically about their financial futures rather than any single milestone. Her educational background includes high school along with a couple of semesters at Trident Technical College, and she considers this Edward Jones role her only adult career, having started with the firm at age 21. Cheri credits her success to rising through the ranks from an entry-level position, supported by strong mentors and a dependable network along the way. She is a member of Crowfield Baptist Church, Summerville Women in Business and stays active in her community outside of work, volunteering alongside her husband with the Tom Conley Ball Field youth program for many years and contributing books to the cancer center in North Charleston. Guided by values of integrity, honesty, and empowerment, she approaches her work and personal life with a commitment to continual learning and leading by example.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to working my way up from the bottom, starting out as a floater performing administrative work. Along the way, I've been fortunate to have wonderful mentors and a strong support system behind me. This has been my only adult job since I started at age 21.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is that the more you know, the more you grow. I also believe in being your unique self, knowing your worth, and being proud of your accomplishments.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to trust your instincts and stay true to yourself. Have heart, and allow yourself to feel empowered.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities I see is working with families to introduce them to planning—not just for retirement, but for life as a whole.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, honesty, and empowerment are the values that matter most to me. I always strive to keep learning new things, to lead by example, and to never let obstacles stand in the way of my goals and dreams.
