Her Story

About Cherish

I graduated high school and community college at the same time at age 19, earning four associate degrees in communications, child and adolescent development, philosophy, and social and behavioral studies. My high school was a dual enrollment middle college in California, which allowed me to take college classes while completing my high school education. Currently, I'm pursuing my bachelor's degree in government with an emphasis in legal studies through Grand Canyon University's online program, and I'll be graduating in spring 2027. I'm also gaining my teaching credential to possibly go into preschool teaching. As the director of my volunteer program Once Upon a Visit, I get to work with little ones and be such an important aspect in their life at such a young age. I also work alongside and do volunteer work with different advocacy and awareness organizations, like Love Life USA with our 58th District State Assemblywoman out here in California. Getting to see that first-hand account of how she moves and operates when it comes to state politics has added a lot of emphasis into my desire to get into state politics, specifically state assembly.

Ten minutes with Cherish

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say honestly, just cherishing every moment. I like to use my name a lot sometimes, and I feel like it's the best way to describe things. When it comes to little ones, watching them grow up is just so hard sometimes, but it's so beautiful getting to experience that. I feel like taking all that in is really important, and being able to utilize those skills are really important. Getting to be such an important aspect in their life at such a young age, and just cherishing that, ultimately, is something I would definitely say.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My faith is probably the biggest value that I have when it comes to everything that I do and my journey. My faith is the most important thing to me. In addition to that, just trusting in the Lord, for sure. I think that kind of goes hand-in-hand with my faith. Also, just being able to lean on other people is really valuable. For a while after my mom was diagnosed, I felt like going to people was really hard. I felt like I didn't have that space where I was able to just open up to people about what's going on. Knowing and understanding that you have a circle of people that genuinely care about you, and just all of those three things combined, ultimately just being able to love on others are some of the most invaluable things to me. I give it all up to the Lord, to be honest, and being able to still have that time to dedicate to my mom and to my family is important.
