Her Story

About Cherry

I received my cosmetology license on October 2nd, 1990, in Fort Worth, Texas - on my birthday. Before beauty school, I didn't even know I was going to be a stylist, but that's how I made my lunch money and paid for my senior stuff - I did half of my class's hair in school. Here I am today, 35 years later, and I ended up being one of the top hairstylists in Fort Worth, Texas for 15 years straight from 1990. Then I moved to the Dallas area in 2010 and just blossomed from there. I'm branded all over Texas - a lot, not just a little bit. I am a great brander. I even went to Houston for 2 years while still maintaining a location in the Metroplex, so I had two locations and went to Houston every other Saturday to do hair. I didn't realize 2 years flew by that quick, but I got to meet a lot of fabulous women who did hair as well. I was in different hair shows and got awards like the Motivator of the Year award - I didn't realize people were watching me. I'm also nominated for a 'lady that takes care of her business' award coming up on June 13th, and I was nominated for a Shorthair Guru Award. I just love to be around people, making them feel good about themselves. Now I've gotten so involved in hair loss - I did one lady's hair and it just blew up this past year. That's what I've been busy doing, trying to make people feel good, especially the ladies. I know their hair won't ever grow back, so I just try to make sure it looks natural, that it stays, and make their confidence build back up again. I've done a lot of backstage work with celebrities when they come to town in Dallas to perform - I did that to brand myself more. They didn't really pay a lot, but I didn't care because I love what I do. I also used to go to Hollywood and do pop-ups. I teach other hairstylists how to brand themselves, how to make amazing money, and how to put themselves out there through one-on-one classes.
