Currently serving as Associate Vice President at Advocate Health, she has a proven track record of leading large teams, managing complex billing operations, and driving transformation across hospital and ambulatory systems. Cheryl’s expertise spans revenue cycle billing, records management, physician scheduling, collections, and both front- and back-office operations, with a strong focus on integration, process improvement, and maximizing organizational success.
Cheryl’s career reflects a consistent commitment to leadership and operational excellence. She has held progressive roles at Advocate Aurora Health, including Executive Director of Billing Operations and Special Billing Operations, overseeing teams of hundreds of staff across dozens of hospitals and ambulatory sites. Her strategic focus on workflow optimization, technology integration, and employee engagement has resulted in measurable improvements in efficiency, reimbursement, and team performance.

I attribute my success to the incredible mentors I’ve had along the way, especially Alicia, who recognized my potential before I did and supported my growth. I’ve also made it a priority to seek out guidance from key leaders, learning from their experience and leadership to continuously grow in my career.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field are balancing ongoing professional development—such as obtaining certifications and advanced degrees—while managing a full-time career. At the same time, there are opportunities to mentor others, engage in professional organizations, and contribute to community initiatives, which enrich both personal growth and the healthcare profession.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work and personal life are mentorship, guidance, and fostering growth in others. I find it deeply rewarding to help others navigate healthcare careers, support their professional development, and witness the lasting impact of these opportunities both within my family and the broader community.
