Her Story

About Cheryl

Cheryl Hilton, BS, AHWD, PSCS, is a respected community health leader, health equity advocate, and educator dedicated to improving population health through strategic collaboration and systems-level change. As Regional Manager of Community Health and Well Being for Trinity Health of New England at St. Mary's Hospital, she leads initiatives that address social determinants of health, strengthen community partnerships, and advance equitable healthcare outcomes. Working closely with hospital leadership, government agencies, and community organizations, she develops and implements evidence-based strategies that bridge the gap between healthcare systems and the communities they serve. Her leadership has contributed to nationally recognized programs, including a maternal health initiative that was named a Joint Commission best practice.

Before transitioning into healthcare, Cheryl built a distinguished career spanning more than two decades in real estate, where she became widely recognized for her commitment to diversity, inclusion, and fair housing. She authored and instructed Understanding and Preventing Bias in Your Real Estate Practice, Connecticut's mandatory continuing education course on bias prevention, training more than 8,000 real estate professionals statewide. She also played a key role in restoring fair housing as a required component of continuing education for Connecticut real estate agents. In addition to her healthcare leadership, Cheryl continues to serve clients as a real estate professional and leads Hilton Advocacy Group LLC, where she provides training and advocacy on diversity, equity, inclusion, educational equity, and mediation.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Social Policy, Cheryl combines expertise in public health, community engagement, and organizational leadership to create lasting social impact. Her professional credentials include At Home With Diversity Specialist (AHWD) and Pricing Strategy Consultant (PSCS), reflecting her diverse background in both healthcare and real estate. Recognized as the 2021 Greater Hartford Association of REALTORS® REALTOR® of the Year, Cheryl has earned a reputation for integrity, innovation, and service. Whether leading health equity initiatives, facilitating community partnerships, or advocating for inclusive practices, she remains committed to empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and creating equitable opportunities for all.

Ten minutes with Cheryl

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid. If you see something, say something. You do make a difference, and your voice always does matter.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In healthcare, the HR1 bill threatening Medicaid access and eligibility for refugees and non-citizens. In real estate, housing affordability leading to market cooling, underwater mortgages, and rising foreclosures. Opportunities include shifting to more humanistic healthcare approaches and people embracing doing more with less intentionally.
