Cheryl Klaus is a seasoned customer service and supply chain professional with more than 35 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry. Based in La Porte, Texas, she has built a long-standing career defined by adaptability, reliability, and a deep commitment to operational excellence. Over the past 25 years with Huntsman International LLC, Cheryl has played an integral role in supporting plant operations through logistics coordination, customer service, and supply chain planning.
Throughout her career, Cheryl has developed specialized expertise in rail and truck logistics, transloading, inventory management, and production scheduling. She is highly skilled in SAP systems, rail shipping and tracking, and has hands-on experience with platforms such as Uber Freight. Known for her ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, she effectively manages complex logistics operations while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Her background also includes strong capabilities in business process improvement, sales support, and cross-functional coordination across plant operations.
Cheryl’s professional success is rooted in her relationship-driven approach to customer service and collaboration. 01What do you attribute your success to?
My career has been built on growth, resilience, and meaningful relationships. Over the past 25 plus years, I've had the opportunity to work across multiple areas of the business, including customer
service, supply chain, rail shipping and plant support. Each role has allowed me to expand my knowledge, take on new challenges, and continuously grow.
I pride myself on being dependable, adaptable, and committed to excellence in everything I do. What I value most are the relationships I've built with customers, carriers, and colleagues- those connections have been the most rewarding part of my journey.
As I reflect on my career, I 'm proud not only of what I've achieved, but how I've achieved it- with consistency, dedication, and a strong work ethic.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be yourself. You do not have to prove your worth to anyone other than yourself!
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
1st - I would advise to learn the business not just your role.
Don't limit yourself to your job description. Ask questions.
This is a teamwork business. The people who advance the quickest understand the entire operation not just their job duty.
Be someone others trust and want to work with.
Relationships will carry you further than technical skills alone.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Supply chain disruptions, environmental pressure, & cost. Global competition, Weak / Uncertain Demand.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My family - These are my biggest blessings. No matter how successful you are and become take the time for the things you love the most. We get wrapped up in our careers and lose time. Time is the key and how to manage it. Go outside and enjoy a sunset. Take your grandbabies to the zoo. Find balance.
