Her Story

About Cheryl

My story actually began in 1999, about 9 years into my career as an investigator. I was primarily working with attorneys, insurance companies, and corporate clients, but at that point in my life, I was targeted by a career criminal - one I later realized was a sociopath. I knew this person. What followed was something I never could have prepared for, and I risked everything to pursue justice, not just for myself and my family, but for the many other victims that I uncovered during the case. My case was eventually featured on the local news, and later on Lifetime with Erin Brockovich on her final Justice reality show. During that time, I wasn't operating from a place of peace or healing - I was in 'I'm-gonna-get-you' mode, in survival mode. I was numb, focused, and driven, but not personally. The shock kind of knocked all my personal feelings out, and I went into professional mode. The emotions I did experience personally - humiliation, anger, resentment, and rage - I had to suppress, but they actually fueled me to lead the investigation, gather the evidence, and ultimately bring him back to Missouri because he fled the state. He was a three-time convicted felon at that point. One of the most defining moments was going undercover to catch him. He was my fiance, and it was the most terrifying experience in my life, but it also became my turning point. It gave me a level of confidence and awareness that I would later use to help others facing similar situations. As people began hearing about my story, they started reaching out to me, not just for advice, but for guidance, and that's when my career naturally evolved into a life coach. During my own healing process, I ran into many obstacles. I couldn't find anyone who had truly walked in my shoes. That's what I needed. I went to therapy, but traditional therapy couldn't give me the direction I needed - they didn't satisfy my needs. My needs were to talk with somebody who had experienced trauma and had to dig their way out and find their way back into the world. Let me tell you, I was afraid to step outside my front door because I was afraid a meteor would fall down and hit me. Being that I couldn't find anyone, and I searched high and low, I created it, and that's what Chattergy is. I developed my own approach to emotional problem solving, built from my real experience, and I designed it to help people take control of their thoughts and their responses in high-stress situations and low-stress situations. I have a tool called the T method that you take with you wherever you are anyway, and it can be done anytime, anywhere. It works for me and helps people fall asleep at night as well. Most people think emotional struggles only come from major life events, but they don't - they come from small ones, too. The difference between this website and others is, because of my background in the investigation industry, I am also vetting people. That's what we offer - you will know who you are actually talking to. It's not going to be some random guy, or girl, or pedophile, or whoever that's gonna make up a name and be able to use our site.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my experience - the hands-on experience of living life, falling into this situation, and having to find my own way out. It's about the resilience through it all, that solution-based approach. You know, you have family, you have friends, but they get tired of hearing it, they don't have the answers, and sometimes some people don't have family and friends who don't know what to do. My success comes from having walked through the trauma myself, not being able to find anyone who had truly been in my shoes, and then creating the solution I needed for myself so I could help others who face the same struggles.
