Her Story
About Cheyanne
I started my career in healthcare administration over 10 years ago, beginning as a medical front desk for a geriatric office and working my way up through Baptist, UnitedHealthcare, and eventually landing as an account manager at Alevy, a supplemental management health company where I assisted members with over-the-counter benefits and transportation services. I had a lot of client relationship management and high-level meetings with healthcare plans we were contracted with. While working in healthcare, I was studying hospitality management at FIU, and I knew events and entertainment was going to be my longevity career. I started freelancing into events and entertainment opportunities in the Miami music industry and landed a brand ambassador spot with Miami Linger Rebels, the promotional event label for Club Space. About 6 months in, when Club Space shut down for remodeling, I was given the opportunity to become a promoter for the sister club, Jolene Sound Room, in downtown. I was very quickly promoted to Club Space promoter after the club reopened that summer. Since then, I've remained a nightlife promoter for all four of the clubs - The Ground, Floyd, Jolene, and Club Space - as well as other Miami Nightlife leading events such as Three Points, Phase 3 Presents, Apex Presents, and M2. I'm all about community inclusion, and at the end of the day, without each other, we don't have ourselves. I love what I do because I'm doing it for others, regardless of it being a nightlife club scene or music entertainment festival events. In December of last year, I opened my LLC named Twisted Innocent, which is my creative alias for pursuing freelance event production and creative design work, including interior design projects. I'm currently working on an interior design project for a friend bringing back his Egyptian culture, and planning a vendor collaborative women's owned business event in Midtown or Wynwood with a friend who owns two bakeries in Pembroke Pines, to build a creative local platform for women-owned businesses in Miami.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never be afraid of no. If you're afraid, you'll never get anywhere because you'll always stop yourself from doing what you want. Regardless of it even being the right thing for you, at least you kind of tried and you learned for yourself, and then you could also find out that it was the best thing for you. What would have happened to you if you did not make that jump? I've never been afraid of failure, so really getting down in the nitty-gritty and going into the profession the way that I did as a brand ambassador helped me learn my position from a hands-on ability. Really being able to shadow my peers and throwing myself out at opportunities, regardless of them accepting me or not, is really how I've been able to gain my experience and grow my portfolio with the different venues, artists, and event platforms that I've been able to work with. I just started putting my head out everywhere, started asking all the right questions, started trying to talk to all the right people. I got my no's and I got my yeses, and I feel like that's really what led me to where I'm at today.
