Her Story
About Cheyenne
I was a manager for Xfinity for about 4 years, where I absolutely loved being able to work with my team and find solutions to any problems they had. Being able to be relied upon and knowing I was able to make a difference within my teammates' lives really inspired me to start my own business. I'm currently in the process of becoming an entrepreneur and starting a cleaning company. I feel like this is something that God has called me to do, so I'm ready to step out on faith and see how that goes. I'm very passionate about servicing other people, which is why I worked in customer service for so long. I sat down and thought, well, what do I love to do? What am I passionate about? And how can I use that to help people? It came to me - I love to cook and I love to clean, so why not make that a business? I also have certifications in CPR and first aid from when I learned to be a lifeguard. I did modeling for a few years as well, which was a beautiful experience that allowed me to be in front of people, network, and get to know different people with different personalities. I love the camera - if someone says let's take photos, I'm the first one to run out there.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to never giving up, because when you give up, you give up on yourself, and not only are you giving up on yourself, you're letting down the people that are dependent on you. For me, failure is never an option because I have two girls. I tell my daughters all the time, something that I can do better than dying for you is living for you, trying to make me a better person for you. Every day that I wake up and I see my children, it's the reason for me to try to do better and to strive to do better. Nobody's perfect, but every day that God wakes you up, you have another chance to fix the mistakes that you had. You can't sit up there and create a new canvas if you're worried about yesterday's smudges on there. You have to be the architect of your own future, so that means build it brick by brick. Don't worry about what you did wrong. You have to forgive yourself, because if you don't, you're never going to be able to move on and be able to focus on what God has planned for you. Every failure is just a setback for a major comeback for something great.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My little brother, who was in the military and passed a few years ago, always taught me to never settle for anything, and that anything I wanted to achieve, I can do that as long as I put my mind to it. But I had to put in the work as well, because faith without works is dead, and he did not believe in me being a couch potato. My godfather Benjamin has also been the most influential man I've known. Anytime that life gets hard, I can always give him a call, and he helps me and walks me through things. He inspired me to have a service heart by volunteering and helping children who didn't have a great life and were less fortunate.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell her to shoot forward. The biggest thing you can do is fail yourself by not trying. I feel like fear stops a lot of people. There are a lot of people that are great who didn't know that they could do it - they just went and they tried. Even creating electricity and a light bulb wasn't something that had to be planned out for a long time. It came to him. Of course, he had to test it for years to get it right, but he never gave up. So, it's whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right. It's ultimately up to you. But don't ever settle, and don't ever sell yourself short, because you can do anything. The sky's the limit. You just gotta be willing to reach for it.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me are service to others and making a difference in people's lives. I'm very passionate about servicing other people, which is why I worked in customer service for so long. I sat down and thought about what I love to do, what I'm passionate about, and how I can use that to help people. I've always felt like making a difference in someone's life has been a thing for me. I love being able to be relied upon and knowing I was able to make a difference within my teammates' lives. My godfather inspired me to have a service heart by volunteering and helping children who were less fortunate. I believe that God has a reason for everything, and there's a purpose for us to help someone else. You can't have a testimony without going through your tests and your battles. It's not about staying there, it's about what you do to pick yourself up to overcome that.
