Her Interview
Ten minutes with China
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my legal mother who had custody of me and passed when I was young, and my great aunt who taught me the basics of business and handling people. Both were business-minded women with big hearts for family and helping others, shaping me into who I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
People will not follow someone that doesn't know where he's going, so as a leader you must have a vision and an assignment. Also, being a leader is to go down a lonely road that's long and by yourself, however it's going to be worth it at the end.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be a sponge. Absorb all the information that is being presented to you and be okay with gathering that information because it's only going to make you better. Every mistake is room for growth. Do not take the advice personally. Every obstacle, challenge, weakness, and learning curve is presented to make you better and stronger.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is learning when to cut off your day-to-day. Take your bubbliness, helpfulness, and attention to details home, but leave a lot of what needs to be done at work. Go finish it the next day. Don't bring worries into today.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value people. I'm a huge empath so I can understand and sympathize with people. Family is one of my biggest values. Because I'm the oldest sister of 16 siblings, it made me the mom of the group, so I care about the people around me.
