Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chinyere

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the strong work ethic instilled in me by my parents, my commitment to continuously learning from the people and experiences around me, and my Christian faith. These foundations have encouraged me to remain disciplined, adaptable and grounded while continuing to grow professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to remain patient, withstand challenging circumstances and protect my integrity. I have learned not to allow difficult situations or external factors to influence my judgment or compromise the principles that guide my decisions.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to examine whether feelings of not belonging are rooted in a skills or competency gap or are instead influenced by social factors. If there is a skills gap, take the opportunity to learn, develop and strengthen those capabilities. If the challenge is the environment, recognize those social factors and determine what changes may be necessary. Most importantly, persevere, remain adaptable and understand that success can take different forms—including having the courage to leave an environment that is not conducive to your growth.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the challenges I encounter as a young Black woman in professional settings is having to demonstrate my capabilities and establish trust despite having relevant degrees, certifications and experience. Another challenge is managing multiple intricate regulatory, healthcare and operational processes without becoming spread too thin. At the same time, these challenges create opportunities to demonstrate expertise, build credibility and develop the ability to manage complex, cross-functional responsibilities.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, open communication and compassion are the values I consider most important. I believe these are not simply personal ideals; they are practical principles that influence how I communicate, make decisions, collaborate with others and approach both professional responsibilities and personal relationships.
