About Chiteara
My story is unconventional. I was forced into crack addiction after becoming a teenage mother and battered woman. This led to a crime and life sentence where I served over 17 years. In prison I got my bachelor's from Boston University and did everything to better myself. Now home on parole I advocate for women and youth mentoring them to avoid my mistakes. I work as a recovery navigator helping with reentry services and have broken barriers by returning to teach at the same prison I was incarcerated in.
