Her Story

About Chloe

Chloe King is a logistics and operations professional in the field of international logistics. She has been with DHL off and on for two to three years, having entered the logistics field directly after college for a total of about four years of experience. Growing up, she observed women in her family, including her mother and grandmother, working in supply chain and logistics, which influenced her path. She attended the University of Alabama where she majored in management with double minors in international business and global studies and perspectives. A college professor and mentor encouraged her to pursue international logistics, leading her to join DHL after considering other opportunities. In her role, she oversees a department of about 30 people with 15 direct reports, managing pre-shift meetings, operations, and ensuring safe flight departures for international destinations including Houston, Brussels, and CBG in Ohio. Her most notable achievement is being selected as CEO of the Day in 2024, the first woman, first Black woman, and first American in DHO, which involved shadowing the CEO in Germany and participating in global board meetings. She attributes her success to her mother, who passed away in 2020 from COVID and encouraged her to be a boss lady in her career. She values remaining authentic, staying dedicated, respectful, results-focused, and honest in her professional life.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chloe

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my mother who passed away in 2020 from COVID. She was my mentor and always told me I was a star and to be a boss lady in my career. I want to make her proud and continue to push through and build a career for myself.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The biggest piece of advice from one of my mentors is to always remain authentic to who you are and don't change who you are to adjust to someone else's environment. With my age and field, it's easy to accommodate but you should keep the foundation of who you are.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay hungry, always stay open for learning opportunities, and keep your mindset open. Don't be closed-minded. Lean on people, network, make connections. Remember there are so many different alleys in this industry. Stay inquisitive and learn and ask questions because there's never a dead-end street.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The field is ever-changing with constant change of the economy, tariffs and prices going up for international shipping. Customer appreciation must be priority over just numbers. Dealing with different personalities and backgrounds daily, but be the weather to keep morale high.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Personal values: loyalty, honesty, genuineness, being full of love. Professional values: dedication, respect, staying direct and diligent, results-focused, honesty.
