About Chris
Chris Hiller is an automotive technician based in Atlanta, Georgia, working as a Honda-certified mechanic at a Honda dealership. With approximately three years of experience in the automotive field, she performs a range of services including oil changes, diagnostic work, and repairs such as sway bar link replacements. She earned her Honda certification through structured online training modules while building hands-on experience in a fast-paced dealership environment.
Alongside her work in automotive repair, Hiller is also pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in animation at the Savannah College of Art and Design, with about one year remaining until completion. Her creative background includes film and motion media studies, freelance illustration and logo design, and work in animation, video editing, and compositing. She continues to balance both technical and artistic disciplines, reflecting a dual career focus rooted in craftsmanship and creativity. Outside of work and school, she enjoys drawing, animating, collecting figurines, and watching anime.
Hiller credits much of her growth in the automotive industry to the support of friends and family, as well as a foreman who gave her her first opportunity as a mechanic. She emphasizes strong work ethic, intentional effort, and pride in one’s work as essential to long-term success. As a woman working in a traditionally male-dominated field, she encourages others to persist through challenges, stay confident in their abilities, and remain committed to learning and improving regardless of external doubts or barriers.

Ten minutes with Chris
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the support of my friends and family, who helped me through some of the most challenging moments in this industry. I also credit my foreman for giving me the opportunity to begin my career as a mechanic, which was a pivotal step in my professional growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received in the automotive industry is to take pride in my work. Maintaining a strong work ethic and caring about the quality of what I do has been key to my growth and success.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women not to give up. There will be people who doubt your ability simply because there are fewer women in the field, but it is important not to let that discourage you. Persistence is essential—if you stay committed, you will succeed.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is navigating a traditionally male-dominated industry. As a woman, you may face assumptions from customers—some may assume you are highly knowledgeable, while others may underestimate your skills. At the same time, there are strong opportunities in this field. Whether working as a dealership mechanic or in smaller independent shops, there are multiple pathways for growth and advancement.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me most are a strong work ethic and intentionality. I believe in putting care and purpose into everything I do, both professionally and personally.
