About Christa
Christa Gibbd brings over three decades of dedication to supporting children and adults through education and mental health services. With 27 years spent in the classroom, primarily as a special education teacher who worked with students across every grade level, she transitioned into counseling roles both within the school system and in private practice, totaling 32 years in the field. Gibbd earned her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master's degree in school counseling from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, followed by completion of a 66-hour clinical mental health program that led to her licensed professional counselor certification. Her main areas of expertise include cognitive behavior therapy, supporting children with IEPs and emotional diagnoses, and de-escalating high-dynamic situations. She is a member of several counseling platforms and attributes her professional path to her faith as a Christian, noting it was a God calling from the beginning. Gibbd also shares that the best career advice she received is to be true to who you are and do what is right, especially when it benefits children.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Christa
01What do you attribute your success to?
My faith is what I attribute my success to. I am a Christian and have always listened to my discernment from God about what is the best thing to happen in my life and what I can do to serve Him the most. It was a God calling from the very beginning.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I've ever received is just be true to who you are, and do what's right, no matter who's looking. And when you are doing what is best for children, then you're not going to be wrong.
