About Christie

Christie Jackett is a software engineer specializing in technology and lunar technology. With two years of industry experience and four years studying the field, she currently serves as one of the few software engineers at Syslim, a lunar tech company. There, she has developed a low-cost universal test machine for testing the strength of lunar regolith simulant, making advanced testing more accessible for researchers and students. Previously, she bridged her biology and computer science backgrounds during an internship at Baptist Health Hospital, where she trained five AI models to predict patient outcomes such as length of stay, mortality rates, and shock deterioration. She originally studied biology at Nova Southeastern University before adding a computer science degree at Florida International University, which she is completing in December.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just because you're a female in a male-dominated field doesn't mean you can't be successful. No matter what people tell you about being put down, it will never be like that if you believe that you can do it and put yourself first. We have the ability to think of the way that we want to be and literally gaslight ourselves in our minds to believe it, and if you truly believe and manifest that you are, you can be anything that you want to be.
