About Christie

Christie Loftis serves as a Client Advocate and Trainer for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, where she has worked for the past 10 years, including 3 years in her current position. Based in Henderson, Texas, she focuses on teaching, training, mentoring, and facilitating classes for adult participants in the work system, addressing policy questions, providing examples, and conducting assessments to track learning progress in areas such as food assistance, Medicaid, and TANF. Her career path began in the medical field and included roles as an office manager and a school paraeducator before evolving into advocacy work, inspired by a desire to help others that originally led her to consider nursing. Loftis holds an associate's degree in applied science and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration. She has earned Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year honors along with merit awards and accolades for her mentoring efforts. Outside of work, she participates in community outreach for children's activities and attributes her success to core values of integrity, honesty, and perseverance learned from her upbringing and life experiences.

01What do you attribute your success to?

My core values from growing up, the lifestyle, the integrity that was instilled in us from children to adulthood. My past life molded how I ended up today. Learning from life's challenges.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Stick with it. Work hard and eventually you'll get to where you're going.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be strong, hang in there, stay focused. Follow the values, the mission. That's what I would tell the young me.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, true characteristics, being yourself, being a person of your word and follow through. Never assume.
