Her Story
About Christie
Christie Scott retired approximately one year ago from her role as Program Director at a correctional institution, where she spent roughly 25 years developing and overseeing programs for both male and female offenders. Her responsibilities included facilitating access to high school diplomas and vocational training in trades including carpentry, automotive repair, and culinary arts. Earlier in her career with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, she advanced from law library technician to director of the inmate legal assistance program and later served as ACA manager in the compliance department, ensuring facility adherence to American Correctional Association standards through training and oversight. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Paralegal Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1999 and a Masters of Management from Belhaven University in 2009. In retirement, Scott teaches part-time with Goodwill Industries of Mississippi, delivering life skills and workplace readiness training to special needs students, and she and her husband have established a nonprofit organization focused on prison outreach, ministry, and re-entry services, with a goal of creating transitional homes for women in Mississippi.
