Her Story

About Christina

I've been in my field for two decades. I come from an entrepreneurial family, and one of my father's businesses closed because he got bad advice from his advisory team. They ended up shutting the business down, and that's what truly triggered my protective stance for clients - making sure they are working with the proper advisory team. I've always been interested in business, and it was always a matter of when I would start my own businesses. I went through corporate America, started doing my own companies, and now I have WJW, a business consulting firm. We focus on pre-transaction advisory for owners. My typical day looks chaotic right now because I'm in the stage of building. Over the last year, we've decided to focus more on exit planning, just for what's happening in the market. Before, I worked with startups, and now I'm focusing more on the last part of the life cycle for a business. It's very complex - we're dealing with attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, in addition to whatever industry the owner happens to be in. There are a lot of different players in a very complex world, and you have to figure out how it all aligns to what the owner actually wants to accomplish. I'm very comfortable with not needing to be the expert on everything, and finding the expert and bringing them together.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think it's perseverance. Understanding that you can fail and you just need to get back up and go again. You're not going to succeed right away - we always see success stories, but you have to truly embrace the fact that you're not going to be the best at first, you're going to get knocked down. You have to keep getting back up. You just have to do a little bit better every single day, and just keep moving forward.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's very complex. We're dealing with attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, in addition to whatever industry the owner happens to be in. So it is a lot of different players in a very complex world, and you have to figure out how it all aligns to what the owner actually wants to accomplish. I overcome this by being very comfortable with not needing to be the expert on everything, and finding the expert, and bringing them together.
