Ten minutes with Christina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my upbringing and tenacity. Coming from a different country gives you a different perspective. I have always had to depend on myself. Being an actor for many years helped me with rejection because you get so much rejection and realize it's not about you. The foundation is don't give up.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice is to silence the critic in your head that tells you that you need to be 100% qualified right out the gate. Go for it because all the qualifications on a job listing are a suggestion. Don't hold yourself back as women do. Put yourself out there and go for it. An older woman told me that years ago and it stuck with me.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say to speak up for yourself. Always listen and take in the situation but don't be afraid to speak up in meetings, voice your ideas and opinions in a respectful way. Don't be afraid to make your voice heard in the organization because that gets you noticed and you have a valuable point of view that could make a difference.
