Her Story

About Christina

Christina L. Robinson is an educator, nonprofit founder, and community advocate with more than 10 years of experience supporting at-risk youth and families through education and social services. Originally from Hartford, Connecticut, she earned an associate degree in Social Services from Capital Community College before continuing her studies at Grand Canyon University, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Psychology, master's degrees in Psychology and Education, and an Education Specialist degree in Education Leadership. She is currently pursuing her principal certification through Lamar University. Throughout her career, she has worked across public, private, and charter schools, residential facilities, transitional homes, emergency shelters, and juvenile detention centers. She currently teaches and prepares high school seniors for the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) examination.

In January 2021, Christina founded Creative Climb Academy Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to dropout prevention, educational access, and community empowerment. Inspired by her personal experiences as a former ward of the state and her understanding of the challenges faced by at-risk families, she established the organization to provide educational resources, guidance, and alternative opportunities for students who need additional support. Through Creative Climb Academy, she helps students explore pathways beyond traditional education by providing career fairs and connecting graduates with opportunities in trade schools, military service, Job Corps, and other career options. The organization also offers free community programs, including financial literacy and anger management courses, to support individuals and families.

As a board member of Community in Schools since June 2023, Christina continues to contribute to educational and community-focused initiatives. As a first-generation college graduate, she takes pride in breaking generational cycles and building a lasting legacy for her sons. She believes that education provides opportunities for personal reinvention and that meaningful service is essential to making a difference. Guided by integrity, honesty, compassion, and a commitment to giving 150 percent in everything she does, she remains dedicated to helping students and families overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.

Ten minutes with Christina

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is, "Do not let other people's limitations become yours." I believe this advice is important because we should never allow someone else's doubts, expectations, or perceived limitations to determine what we can accomplish. Everyone has their own potential, and I believe we must remain confident in our abilities, continue pursuing our goals, and create opportunities for ourselves even when others may not see what we are capable of achieving.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering education and community service is to have passion and a genuine concern for people. You must truly care about the individuals you serve and be driven by the desire to make a positive difference in their lives. For me, having a heart for people is what motivates my work. Education and service require more than simply completing responsibilities; they require compassion, dedication, and a sincere commitment to helping others succeed.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I currently face as a nonprofit founder is generating sufficient revenue to support the organization's growth. Nonprofit organizations need financial capital to maintain their programs, expand their services, and reach more individuals and families. Although there are meaningful opportunities to make a difference through educational programs and community initiatives, securing the necessary funding remains an important challenge. Having greater financial resources would allow Creative Climb Academy to strengthen its operations, support more students, and expand its impact within the community.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are integrity, honesty, and dedication. I believe in conducting myself with integrity, being truthful in my interactions, and maintaining strong personal and professional principles. I also believe in giving 150 percent in everything I do. Whether I am working with students, supporting families, or leading my nonprofit organization, I strive to give my best effort and remain committed to the people and responsibilities entrusted to me.
