Her Story
About Christina
Christina Twine is a civil estimator with five years of experience spanning architectural cabinetry, asphalt, and civil construction, including specialized earthwork projects. Over the course of her career, she has held roles ranging from timber sales division lead at GFR Forestry to pre-construction and change-order responsibilities at the Micron site with Jacobs Engineering and DPS Global Group. Most recently, she served as lead civil estimator in the preconstruction division at Tidewater Development Services Corporation, and her broader portfolio includes estimating work with Crown Paving and Campostella Builders & Supply Corporation. Her path through the industry reflects a hands-on, detail-driven approach, one that has allowed her to move seamlessly across disciplines while sharpening her expertise in reading drawings, preparing bids, and managing project scope.
Beyond her technical accomplishments, Christina is drawn to the full lifecycle of construction work, from raw land to finished project, and she describes herself as someone who thrives on the competitive, detail-oriented nature of estimating rather than the administrative side of project management. She is currently weighing her next chapter, considering whether to remain in estimating and pre-construction or to launch her own woman-owned landscaping business by taking over her father's company. Alongside her professional pursuits, she is completing a bachelor's degree in Business Management with a minor in Leadership at the University of Phoenix, with about a year left before graduation.
As a single mother of three, Christina credits much of her resilience and drive to her family, particularly her daughter Zoe, as well as the unwavering support of her parents and her Christian faith. She is passionate about encouraging more women to enter engineering and construction careers, believing the field offers far more diverse opportunities than most people realize. In recognition of her professional achievements and personal journey, Christina has been selected for feature in Influential Women 2026.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Christina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my parents, who have always been my biggest cheerleaders and have given me the courage to keep pushing forward. My children, especially my daughter Zoe, are my rock, and my faith continues to be a source of strength that keeps me grounded through every challenge.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I've received is to have more confidence in myself. Even in moments of self-doubt, I've learned that owning my knowledge and skills makes me stronger, both professionally and personally.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I'd encourage young women to consider a career in engineering and construction, as our industry needs more of us. There are so many interesting, lesser-known paths within this field beyond the most common roles, from timber and milling to earthwork and civil site development, and I'd urge them to explore all of it.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Our industry is evolving quickly, particularly as more companies separate estimating from project management. This shift has created challenges in how teams collaborate and how professionals like myself navigate role transitions, but it also opens up opportunities to specialize and grow within a more defined area of expertise.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family, faith, resilience, and a strong work ethic are the values that guide me most. As a single mother of three, maintaining that family dynamic and providing stability for my children will always come first, even as I continue to pursue my professional goals.
