Her Interview

Ten minutes with Christina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong belief that I can make things happen, along with the encouragement instilled in me from a young age. After working as a professional actor in New York, I returned to Chicago and shifted my focus toward screenwriting and filmmaking, eventually starting my own production company so I could bring my stories to life. Today, I balance my day job with writing, producing, directing, and acting, while staying connected to Chicago’s creative community. I’m driven by the desire to contribute through storytelling and by the mindset that if I see others creating, I can create too.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received was from a boss who told me, “Your time is valuable.” I had never heard that before, especially after years as an actor, where people often don’t treat your time as valuable. That advice really stayed with me and changed the way I think about my time, my work, and the value I bring.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is not to give up if this is truly what you want. Be prepared for challenges and understand that the journey can be difficult. If you realize this life isn’t for you, there’s no shame in choosing a different path. But if it is what you truly want, keep going, stay committed, and give yourself the opportunity to make it happen.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Getting noticed. Getting funding. Making films is a tough business!

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Curiosity, creativity, and a commitment to pursuing what I love are important to me in both my work and personal life. I’ve been a trapeze flyer since 2013 and try to practice every week, sometimes twice when I can. It’s a hobby that keeps me challenged and engaged, alongside my love of reading and watching movies.
