About Christina
Christina Yannatos, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, is the owner and founder of Yannatos Physical Therapy in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, where she is dedicated to delivering personalized, evidence-based orthopedic care in a patient-centered environment. After beginning her career in corporate outpatient physical therapy, she established her independent practice in 2023 with the goal of providing one-on-one treatment that prioritizes quality outcomes, individualized attention, and meaningful patient relationships. Under her leadership, the practice has earned recognition as the Cape Cod Times Community Choice Award recipient for Best Physical Therapy Clinic on Cape Cod.
Christina earned both her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Boston University. She went on to complete an orthopedic residency through the Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy and a fellowship at Boston University, achieving the prestigious Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) designation—an honor held by fewer than one percent of physical therapists. She is also a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and maintains active membership in the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Committed to clinical excellence, mentorship, and lifelong learning, Christina has built her practice around a culture of collaboration, continuing education, and compassionate care. She is passionate about helping patients regain mobility and independence while supporting the professional growth of emerging physical therapists through structured mentoring and development opportunities. Inspired by a family legacy of entrepreneurship and a commitment to service, she continues to advance the standard of orthopedic physical therapy for the Cape Cod community.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Christina
01What do you attribute your success to?
My all four grandparents were born in Greece and immigrated here. They opened restaurants and were hard workers. My dad opened his own business as a tax lawyer. Seeing their success and how hard they worked influenced my work ethic and decision to go out on my own.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My mentors at Boston University advised me to make a little bit less money, see less patients, and give the best care that you can rather than running around seeing up to seven patients at a time and not giving the best care.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The most important thing in physical therapy or healthcare is that it's always changing, so continuing education is key. Keep learning and keep striving to be the best you can be because there's always more to learn.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges are insurance reimbursement rates. You need a doctorate, it's a lot of school and student loans, but reimbursement rates are low so physical therapists are not paid as doctors. The APTA is fighting for higher rates and the field is catching up since the doctorate mandate is recent.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Treating others how you want to be treated. I want my colleagues to feel respected, not inferior, and to know how much respect I have for them. I want everyone to feel like they can contribute and create a positive environment so people want to come to work and don't feel like it's a chore.
