Her Interview

Ten minutes with Christine

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the previous owner. He was very hard on me but took me to lunch one day and asked me to move up to be manager because he saw something in me from the time I started and knew I could do the job.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

An older woman here was very mean due to jealousy. The advice is you have to not worry about what everyone is saying or what they have to say about you, because at the end of the day you know who you are and what type of person you are. It really doesn't matter what someone's opinion of you is as long as you're living your truth.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You have to believe. You can do it. Anybody can do it. You just have to have the mindset to do it. It's all about the mindset. You've got to set your mind to accomplish things. If you really want it, you'll accomplish it. Believe in yourself.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is building materials, cross-luxury, the tariffs. Spruce lumber comes from Canada so tariffs make it tough right now in the building industry. The biggest opportunity is building our business, going out and getting contractors, customer service with 5-star Google rating.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Knowing that the people around me know that I respect them and that I value them and that I'm always there for them. I'm the type of person who'll do anything for anybody as long as it's feasible. I'm just a supporting person, I just want to support people. I want to bring them up, not bring them down.
