What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the inspiration I find in children’s faces — the way they light up like a lantern of hope fuels everything I do and reminds me why creativity matters.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The best advice I can give young women entering this industry is to write out what you don’t want to do and keep those boundaries. Find your voice and don’t be afraid to speak up, even when it feels uncomfortable.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One challenge I face in my work is that crafts and projects can be delayed, but I see this as an opportunity to plan creatively and adapt so that the joy of making is never lost.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value creating experiences that make children excited about crafting and expanding their knowledge. I design homemade kits for all ages so everyone can feel the satisfaction of making something with their hands, and I involve parents to encourage family engagement. I support charities like Compassion International and Save the Children, and I strive to treat people with respect, always putting myself in their shoes. Outside of work, I love arts and traveling with my teenager — only five states left to explore: Washington, Oregon, Alabama, Hawaii, and Idaho.
