About Christine
Christine Mata is an entrepreneur who has pursued various business ventures throughout her life. She has provided in-home care services since 2012, including work with Visiting Angels, and holds certifications as a massage therapist and a CNA, in addition to completing multiple college classes. She is also opening a food truck where she plans to sell tamales from different countries along with fusion foods, drawing on her experience cooking African dishes. Mata attributes her success to persistence and the willingness to keep trying even when facing challenges such as finding housing after her father lost his home. She values authenticity and real human interaction in both her work and personal life, and she has received career advice emphasizing that 80 percent effort is often sufficient if one puts in the work.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Persistence and putting in the effort. Try again and keep going forward even when things are hard, like finding a house after my dad lost his.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
A client told me people are only looking for 80% effort, not 100%, so put in the effort and try.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Big corporations and hospitals flooding the market with CNAs and using AI and cutbacks, making jobs scarce.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Authenticity and real human interaction over fake or AI-driven things.
