Her Story
About Christine
Christine Muthusamy-Flok has dedicated 20 years to education. She began her career as an intern at New York Arts Magazine in New York before relocating to San Francisco for graduate studies with her partner. An AmeriCorps opportunity at a school in Bayview/Hunters Point unexpectedly sparked her enthusiasm for working with children, leading her to support reading interventions, earn a teaching credential, and enter classroom teaching. After moving to Sacramento, she joined Twin Rivers Unified School District as an intervention specialist and progressed to Coordinator of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Interventions. In this capacity, she directs 12 specialists serving 50 schools and 25,000 students in the 25th largest district in California, emphasizing teacher coaching, training development, classroom observation, and capacity building in high-need Title I environments. Her team's efforts earned the Golden Bell Award in 2022 for exemplary school systems. She holds a master's degree in education leadership and aspires to broader system leadership, county-level roles, or higher education teaching.
