About Christine

Christine Naiman serves as Principal Designer at Adaptive Architects. She has been with the company for 12 years and in the role of principal since 2022. Prior to that, she worked as a project coordinator and project designer, overseeing design aspects from initial concepts through construction administration and coordinating with engineers and consultants. Naiman earned a Bachelor of Science in Design after four years at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, followed by an additional two years to complete her Master's of Architecture degree in May 2011. Her primary focus is design, and she has led projects such as St. Joseph Catholic Church, which spanned two years from design through final construction, and St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic Church in Anthem, Arizona, which took approximately two and a half to three years. She is currently preparing construction documents for an 8,000 to 9,000 square foot office building for Christ the King Parish in Mesa and another new office building for MP Transport. Naiman is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects, participates in the USGBC Green Council, and is part of the Arizona Artist Pastel Association.

Ten minutes with Christine

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My biggest advice is to come out of the shell a little bit slowly and grow more and more out of the shell, being able to take the ideas and express them vocally and improve on communication to people. A lot of what we do is explaining the vision and process to clients, so it's important to be more confident. Also, not be afraid to take initiatives at work, get up from your desk and ask what else you can work on or help with.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Trust is a big thing. Gaining trust and integrity with the client is important, being able to deliver the product to them in a way that meets their goals, ambitions, timelines and budget, and gaining that trusting relationship so they want to come back.
