About Christine

Christine Phillips is a Customer Service Manager in Airport Customer Operations at American Airlines, where she works in airport operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Alongside her airline career, she serves as Director of Social Media for Texas Advantage Volleyball Club, focusing on social media, branding, and promotion for elite junior volleyball athletes. She also has experience in social media consulting and photography through CP Creations. A former collegiate volleyball player and coach, Phillips has built her career around athletics, communication, leadership, and developing others. She played volleyball at Long Beach Polytechnic High School and Long Beach City College before earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Texas-Pan American, now UTRGV, and a Master of Science in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. Her athletic achievements were recognized through her induction into the Long Beach City College Hall of Champions in 2012 and the Long Beach City Hall of Fame in 2013. Phillips brings her background in athletics and coaching into her work with young volleyball players, particularly through social media, branding, and communications. She attributes her success to her faith and the support and encouragement of her family. She values honesty and authenticity and emphasizes these principles when mentoring young athletes, encouraging them to recognize their individual importance and remain true to themselves. Her Interview

Ten minutes with Christine

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith and my family. My faith has always been my foundation and my rock, while my parents consistently showed up for me, encouraged me, and pushed me to become the person I am today. Their support, along with my faith, has been instrumental in shaping my career and my approach to life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is simple: just keep going. A friend, Lori Okimura, was a trailblazer who was never afraid to stand by her beliefs and move forward. She was always an advocate for me and encouraged me to keep going, and that advice has continued to influence me throughout my career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to not be afraid to try new things. Not everything you create is going to perform exceptionally well or receive a million views, and that is okay. Keep building, experiment with different approaches, and do not be discouraged by content that receives fewer views. Pay attention to what others are doing, learn from it, and then make it your own rather than simply copying someone else.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in social media is how saturated the field has become, particularly with people looking for ways to monetize their content. Authenticity can sometimes become secondary in such a crowded environment. AI has also become a valuable tool for creating reels and clips, but at the same time, it contributes to the increasing volume of content and the overall saturation of the space. I believe the challenge is finding ways to remain authentic and distinctive in an increasingly crowded digital environment.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are honesty and authenticity. I emphasize these values with the young athletes I work with because it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle, particularly in competitive environments. I want them to understand that they are important and that they should remain authentic to who they are.
