About Christine
Christine Wilsek is a seasoned human resources and hospitality leader with more than four decades of experience in the industry. She currently serves as Director of People & Culture at The Langham, Chicago, where she focuses on employee relations, talent development, workplace culture, and creating an environment where colleagues feel valued and supported. Christine began her HR career in 1984 and has held leadership positions with Langham Hospitality Group and other prominent hospitality organizations across the United States. Throughout her career, Christine has developed particular expertise in hotel openings and takeovers, contributing to the successful launch and transition of approximately 10 properties. Her Langham career has included roles in Pasadena, Chicago, and New York as well as regional leadership positions overseeing Human Resources across North America. She earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from DeVry University and became a certified facilitator for Franklin Covey programs, including The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 4 Disciplines of Execution. Christine credits empathy, diligence, persistence, and a commitment to positive outcomes as key drivers of her professional success. Beyond her professional responsibilities, Christine is passionate about developing people and encouraging young individuals to consider careers in hospitality, including opportunities that do not require a traditional college degree. Her leadership philosophy centers on balancing compassion with appropriate standards while treating employees and managers fairly. Outside of work, Christine enjoys spending time with her daughter and dogs, particularly adopting older dogs and giving them a loving second chance. She also enjoys reading, traveling, cooking traditional Italian dishes, exploring local markets and boutiques, and enthusiastically supporting the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Dodgers.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to empathy, diligence, perseverance, and maintaining a positive outlook. I always strive to understand others, work hard, never give up, and look for the best possible outcome in every situation.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering my industry not to be intimidated and to choose their battles wisely. Keep learning, stay confident, and remember that growth is an ongoing journey that continually moves you forward.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunity for me is continued growth and advancement, including taking on greater responsibilities and potentially managing additional hotels. I am passionate about my work, value my team and leadership role, and find great fulfillment in what I do each day.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are creating a positive and respectful environment where my team feels satisfied, valued, and well treated. In my personal life, my daughter and my dogs are my greatest priorities and sources of happiness.
