Her Story

About Christy

I've been in the logistics field off and on over the last 20 years, and I've been with Kuehne Nagel, a third-party logistics company, for a little over 6 years. I just got promoted about 3 weeks ago to process and operations Lean Six Sigma Black Belt lead for the healthcare verticals. Previously, I was a continuous improvement lead black belt engineer for the healthcare vertical. In my current role, I take customer requests and put those into solutions, building warehouses either from the ground up or taking existing warehouse space. We hold the customer's product in our walls and distribute based on what their customers need us to do. My specific role is making sure that we have flawless execution. What really inspires me in this field is identifying opportunities to make people's work easier, like removing roadblocks and making people walk less, making the associates on the floor just happier in their day-to-day. I love challenging really complex problems. I had to fight for my education and just kind of kept going with it and never stopped. Building strong relationships is important to me, and I never want to be the smartest person in the room.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Christy

01What do you attribute your success to?

Honestly, I had to do it on my own. I had to fight for my education, and just kind of kept going with it, and never stopped.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

If you don't like what you're doing, find something that you do. Don't just do something for the sake of a paycheck.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say to own your seat at the table. Pay attention, learn from others. It's okay to say you don't know, but go figure it out.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say finding maybe not the best answer, but the next best answer. Financially, we don't always have the opportunity to invest in the best solution, so we have to find that next best, and sometimes that's pretty challenging.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Building strong relationships is most important to me. I also value never being the smartest person in the room, because that's how you continue to learn and grow.
