Ten minutes with Ciara
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think there's several factors, but I've overcome a lot in my life, starting with my childhood, my mother passed away when I was young, and that was really hard, growing up without mom or my dad, and my grandparents raised me. Just overcoming those pains that come through that, that's really difficult, but also my husband is very inspirational. He inspires me because he thinks about the end of his life, and it's important for us to understand that we are temporary on this earth, and just to try to bring value, and touch people, and love people, and do the most you can for your country, and just be proud of your work, and be the best you can be. You are who you surround yourself with.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Success is not one big thing that you do, it's the tedious work that you do, or the small, boring work you do every day, day in and day out. Even when you're not feeling good, or you're tired, just doing the work when it's hard, and just continuing to push through, and persevere over and over again, and compound pounding, because you just keep going, and then one day you look up, and you start to see progress, and that momentum grows, and it's just going back to the basics. Having specific, concrete goals that you're looking at, and long goals, and dreaming big, not being small, and knowing that you're capable of so much more than you think.
