Her Story

About Ciara

My professional journey spans almost 15 years in program and project management, where I've evolved into specializing in AI adoption and change management. I started out managing and leading technology projects from start to finish, handling budgets and teams across a wide range of industries - from financial services and education to technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, professional staffing, automotive, and nonprofits. Over the years, I've held various roles including Project and Program Leader, Agile Lead, Senior Consultant, and Change Management Lead. Today, I'm a co-founder of my own brand and the managing owner of a change management firm. My work centers on partnering with clients to deeply understand their business needs, then coaching and guiding their organizational leaders through critical mindset shifts. A typical day for me involves conducting workshops and webinars, doing business development, and managing the back-office operations of my firm. What drives me is delivering tangible outcomes for my clients - whether that's reducing waste, streamlining processes, minimizing friction, or improving collaboration and ways of working across their teams. My most notable professional achievement has been starting my own firm, which has allowed me to choose clients I'm truly aligned with and make a greater impact by working with people who have great personalities and operate in industries I'm passionate about. Pushing past that fear and creating my own agency outside of the standard 9-to-5 has been transformative.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I don't think there's one specific event or experience that I attribute my success to. It's more a series of experiences that I've had over time to help me learn and grow and see myself from a different perspective. One major turning point was a life surgery I had maybe 3 years ago that awakened me to the fact that there were other things more important to me in my life than just work. I used to work 15 to 20 hours a day because it fueled me to provide those outcomes, but that surgery caused me to see what was actually important - my family, spending time with my wife, and spending time with my dogs. Those things became more important to me than proving myself to anyone. Beyond that, it's been a series of realizations working with different clients and learning from different people over time. A lot of it has been about shifting my perspective on who I am and learning to value my worth outside of what I've been conditioned to value it as - which was things and working all that time and really being defined by work. I would also add that having a curious mindset has been a huge contributing factor, something I arrived at through those series of experiences.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received came from one of the past leaders I worked with who gave me a book called The Confidence Code. The advice and perspective behind it was that as women, we often ruminate and overthink when it comes to things regarding our careers and next steps on a day-to-day basis. That book opened my awareness to the ways in which I wasn't showing up confidently as a leader. It really changed my outlook on what confidence means, what it means to me, and how I can stop overthinking and ruminating on things and take more action - take more aligned action instead of being shy about it or holding back. I'd say that developing that awareness of confidence within me was my biggest career advice.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would definitely tell them the biggest thing is to have a curious mindset. Keeping a curious mindset about anything that happens in life will save you a lot of stress, save you a lot of time, and it will also help you see things differently and see things from an opportunity perspective rather than a victim mindset. Having a curious mindset has been one of the biggest contributing factors of my success, something I arrived at through a series of experiences over time.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunity and challenge right now, especially for Prince and Posh as we reposition ourselves, is really figuring out what our customers would want to see the most and what would give them the most value. I say it's both an opportunity and a challenge because things are changing so fast, especially with AI. Everything is changing so much that the ability to keep up and make sure we're providing our customers with the value and the things they want to see is a pretty big one.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that drive me both professionally and personally are definitely honesty, integrity, and respect. I really value my time - both professionally and personally - and what I do with my time. Trust is a big value of mine. I want my clients to trust me, and of course I want to be able to provide a level of trust to them as well in the things I do for them and the value I create. Value itself is a value for me from the perspective of outcomes. It's really important that I provide some level of outcome that is valuable to my client, whether that is reducing some of their waste, reducing some of the current processes they have in place, reducing friction, or improving the ways of working and collaboration amongst teams. No matter what it is, outcomes is a big value of mine as well.
