About Cindy
Cindy Burris is a supply chain professional with over 20 years of experience in highly regulated industries including pharmaceutical, defense, nuclear energy, and food compliance. She began her career at Abbott Laboratories where she gained foundational experience working with engineering, quality, and operations teams. She advanced through defense procurement roles at General Dynamics under DFAR and ITAR regulations, then to Emerson handling ASME nuclear projects for submarines and carriers as well as AP1000 development in Europe. Currently at Westinghouse in the clean energy division, she works on new small modular reactor projects for the United States and Europe. Her certifications include Professional Project Management, CPM, HAZMAT, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, GFSI, FDA regulations, Customs Training Program Against Terrorism, and Certified Supply Chain Professional. She values mentoring and has advised young women to seek opportunities at companies like Westinghouse, General Dynamics, and GE Vernova that emphasize professional development.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get with well-known companies that are good at grooming people like Westinghouse, General Dynamics, GE Vernova. Join organizations affiliated with the industry for networking. Pursue education internally and externally. Find a good company with a mentoring system.
