About Cindy
She is an accomplished leader and strategist with over 30 years of experience driving community impact, organizational development, and systems change across the nonprofit and social impact sectors. Currently serving as Co-Founder and CEO of Brilliant Cities, she leads the organization's mission to create thriving, equitable communities through strategic partnerships and transformative initiatives. Prior to this role, she served as Chief Strategy Officer at Detroit Rescue Mission, where she provided strategic leadership for the organization. She also served as Senior Director of Community Impact at United Way for Southeastern Michigan, where she was a member of the leadership team setting strategy and direction, oversaw day-to-day operations for 60% of organizational staffing, and managed a five-year investment of over $60 million for education initiatives. She directed the Early Childhood portfolio, launched 11 Social Innovation Fund projects, and led a Turnaround initiative that increased graduation rates from 40% to 80% in historically low-performing schools. Earlier in her career, she served as President of CERB Associates, LLC for over 20 years, and as Principal Consultant at Independent Leadership and Project Consultant. She holds a Master of Science in Psychology from Wayne State University. She is recognized as a visionary, results-driven, and equity-focused leader who has dedicated her career to transforming systems, strengthening communities, and creating lasting impact for children and families.
