About Cindy

Cindy Geer is an accomplished personal trainer with nearly 14 years of experience at The Training Studio, a boutique fitness facility in Louisville, Kentucky. As the Founder of Train Like A Girl, Cindy is passionate about helping individuals, especially women, develop strength, confidence, and lifelong wellness through customized fitness and nutrition strategies. She provides private, semi-private, and group training sessions designed to meet clients at every stage of their fitness journey, with a particular focus on supporting women through menopause, aging, and overall health transitions.

Cindy’s expertise combines strength training, functional movement, and evidence-based nutrition to help clients improve performance, prevent injuries, and enhance quality of life. Through her Train Like A Girl program, she works with young female athletes from middle school through college, emphasizing full-body strength training to build athletic performance and reduce common injuries such as ACL tears and shin splints. Her commitment to education and innovation has led her to continually expand her knowledge through certifications in ACE training, TRX, Precision Nutrition, kettlebell training, first aid, and CPR, while incorporating advanced methods such as plyometrics and longevity-focused training.

Before beginning her career in fitness, Cindy earned a college degree in education and biology and spent time as an educator, developing the teaching and mentoring skills that continue to shape her coaching approach today. Her background allows her to connect with clients through encouragement, education, and personalized guidance. Although she now works part-time, Cindy remains deeply committed to helping others live longer, stronger, and healthier lives by staying current with emerging fitness practices and empowering people to achieve lasting results.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Cindy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a lifelong commitment to sports, fitness, and continuous growth, along with the strong foundation and support I received from my parents, who have always been my role models. My experiences coaching youth athletes helped shape my passion for helping others build confidence, strength, and resilience. I am also grateful for the encouragement of my studio owner, who supported my professional development, encouraged me to pursue certifications, and gave me the opportunity to create programs that positively impact the lives of others. Through dedication, ongoing learning, and a genuine desire to empower people, I continue to grow both as a trainer and as a mentor.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Love what you do, and make a difference in their lives.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the changing landscape of fitness, including the increase in schools offering in-house training programs, which has reduced opportunities for outside enrollment. Another challenge is supporting aging female clients as they navigate menopause-related changes, nutritional needs, and the importance of maintaining strength and overall health. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunities in the growing focus on longevity, bone health, and targeted strength training. More people are recognizing the importance of building strength at every stage of life, and I am passionate about helping women and young athletes develop the knowledge, confidence, and physical foundation needed to thrive.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are health, lifelong fitness, and leading by example. I believe that taking care of ourselves physically and mentally allows us to live more fulfilling lives and positively influence those around us. As a trainer, I am passionate about helping my clients build strength, confidence, and healthy habits that support long-term wellness. My goal is to inspire others to prioritize their health and empower them to live longer, stronger, and more active lives.
