Her Story
About Cindy
Cindy Utterback is a travel advisor, entrepreneur, and community leader based in Fresno who is passionate about helping families create meaningful travel experiences while encouraging women to prioritize themselves and their personal growth. Her journey into the travel industry began after taking her first family cruise in 2024, an experience that sparked both a love for travel planning and an unexpected business opportunity. Known for being an organized and detail-oriented planner, Cindy began sharing photos and experiences from her vacation online, which quickly led friends and followers to seek her advice on booking cruises and family trips. Inspired by the encouragement she received, she pursued certification as a travel agent and launched her own business, Dream Destinations by Cindy Utterback, where she now helps clients plan cruises, Disneyland vacations, and all-inclusive getaways tailored to their needs and budgets. As a bilingual travel advisor who speaks both English and Spanish, Cindy works to make travel more accessible for diverse families and first-time travelers who may feel overwhelmed by the planning process. She creates personalized itineraries, offers financing options, and guides clients through every stage of their trip so they can travel with confidence and peace of mind. In addition to running her travel business, Cindy serves as president of the Fresno chapter of The Posh Mama Club, where she hosts weekly curated events designed to help mothers focus on self-care, connection, and empowerment. Through these gatherings, she encourages women not just to survive the demands of motherhood and daily life, but to truly thrive while building supportive relationships within their communities. Cindy’s commitment to service extends beyond business and networking into hands-on community leadership. Since taking over operations at her church’s thrift store in 2025, she has transformed the environment by leading with compassion, respect, and faith. Rather than responding to challenges with fear or frustration, she chose to treat struggling individuals with kindness and dignity, creating unexpected trust and stronger community relationships. Cindy believes many of the leadership opportunities in her life appeared before she fully believed in herself, but through faith, perseverance, and dedication to others, she has grown into those roles with confidence and purpose. A devoted wife and homeschooling mother, she continues to balance family life, entrepreneurship, ministry, and mentorship while inspiring other women to pursue their goals with organization, passion, and heart.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Cindy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I truly feel that God has been gently guiding me into leadership, even when I didn’t always believe in myself. For a long time, I often turned down opportunities to lead because I didn’t feel ready or thought it would be too difficult.
More recently, leadership roles have come into my life in a way I didn’t seek out or plan for. In fact, I didn’t feel like I had much of a choice, but I now see that maybe God was placing me exactly where I needed to be.
Since stepping into this role at the thrift store, everything has shifted. I’ve made changes to how things are run, focusing on leading with love, respect, and compassion. I try to treat each person individually, take time to listen, and pray for those I encounter. The environment feels different now, more peaceful and intentional.
Even though I didn’t always see myself as capable, God has been faithful in growing me into this space, and I’m grateful for what He is doing through it.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve received is to stay consistent, keep going, and not give up. Build with passion, put your heart into what you’re doing, and trust the process even when you don’t see immediate results.
Success doesn’t usually happen in a year or two, it takes time, patience, and a long-term mindset. For me, I had to think in terms of at least five years of steady effort and growth.
In my own experience, things really began to shift in my second year. My travel agency started gaining momentum, I was entrusted with leadership at my church, and I was honored to serve as president of The Posh Mama Club. It didn’t all happen at once, it came through consistency, faith, and not giving up even when things felt uncertain.
Looking back, I see how important it was to stay faithful in the process and continue showing up, even before the results came.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stay organized, work with love, and make it where you want to help people. Just dedicate yourself and don't give up. You have to be organized when you're juggling so many things, but if you work with love and focus on helping people, that's what matters. Don't give up, even when it gets hard.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of my biggest challenges is balancing motherhood with running my businesses and community work. I have a little one with me most of the time, so I’m constantly managing homeschool, activities, playdates, and family life while also taking care of my travel clients, vendors, sponsors, and community events.
When I host Posh Mama events or attend meetings, I often have to coordinate childcare or rely on my husband’s support when he’s available. If not, I make it work by planning carefully and sometimes hiring help.
Even with the challenges, I’ve learned that growth comes through staying consistent and showing up anyway. In my travel business especially, I’ve seen how opportunities don’t just create success for me but they allow me to help others grow too. I love helping women step into the industry, become travel agents, and build their own businesses and income through something they can call their own.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value independence, impact, and authenticity. I’ve built my work around creating freedom for myself and helping others do the same with God as the center of everything, my husband my biggest supporter and backbone and my children my motivators while always staying true to who I am and what I believe in.
Working with love and helping people is everything to me. I want moms to not just survive, but to take care of themselves and put themselves first, because when you're happy, when you're healthy, when you're thriving, everything falls into place after that. I'm very humble about everything I do, and I want to make sure everything I do is accessible for others so they can have the same opportunities to thrive.
