About Claire

Claire Anderson is the Senior Principal Project Manager for Amtrak based in Philadelphia, PA. In this role, she manages a roughly billion-dollar project spanning the next 10 years that involves replacing 20 miles of catenary and installing new transmission lines along the Harrisburg line from downtown Philadelphia to Paoli. She began her career in the transportation industry with Union Pacific in 2007. Anderson earned her undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University and later obtained an MBA during the COVID period. At Union Pacific, she advanced to oversee a 10-state territory in the West, becoming the first woman and first woman of color to hold that position. Her daily responsibilities include negotiating real estate contracts, interfacing with agencies such as SEPTA and PennDOT, conducting design reviews, and explaining complex project details to secure funding. Anderson is a member of Women in Transportation and PMI. She has participated in employee resource groups including the women's group, Black Employee Resource Group, LIN, the LGBTQ group, and served as manager liaison for the safety group for five years. Outside of work, she has volunteered with a food kitchen in Chicago, led YMCA STEM talks for younger girls, and engaged with Girl Scout troops.
