About Claire

Dr. Claire L. Glynn is a distinguished forensic scientist, academic leader, and educator with over a decade of experience in forensic science, cancer research, and higher education. Currently serving as Full Professor at the University of New Haven, she is the Founding Director of the Graduate Certificate in Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG), a pioneering program she launched in 2020. She also serves as Executive Director of the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science. Prior to her current roles, she served as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven. Her research career includes a PhD in Cancer Research from the University of Galway, where she investigated microRNA-mediated intercellular communication in the breast tumor microenvironment, and roles as a Forensic Examiner at Eurofins Forensic Services, where she examined forensic casework items for biological materials and trace evidence. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical and Forensic Analysis from the Technological University of the Shannon. She is recognized as a visionary, passionate, and impactful leader who is deeply committed to advancing forensic science education, research, and practice, and to preparing the next generation of forensic professionals.
