Her Story
About Clare
I'm a first-year student at Georgia studying political science and international affairs, with a passion for leadership and community service that I've carried with me from high school. In high school, I was president of Science National Honor Society for 2 years, where I led over 100 members and we volunteered at local elementary schools, hosted science fairs for them, and did speaker panels with different scientists around Columbia. I also co-founded an organization called Philanthropase, which is a nonprofit where we made a 5K charity race. Our first race benefited the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation. I was a runner all throughout high school, and we didn't have a home course even though Columbia's a very big city, so I took the initiative to find a park and map out a route, then opened it up to the whole community to run the 5K with me and raise money for charity at the same time. Now in my sorority, I'm the Director of Community Engagement, leading over 350 members in multiple service initiatives each month. Our big thing is going out to a local nursing home and doing different events with them - we had a Valentine's Day dance where our members came and hung out with the older residents and got them up and dancing, and the previous month we did a game night with them and played lots of fun card games. It was really great to include them in our community engagement.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value would just be dedication. I think that I show a lot of dedication to many different things that I do, and I look for that in a friend and a person, a mentor. I look for dedication in their work and just a drive that gets you up out of bed in the morning. I want my career and the rest of my life to be something that I want to dedicate my life to. I want it to be worthy of dedication.
