Ten minutes with Clarissa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my career trajectory to an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning, adaptability, and a willingness to step boldly into the unknown. Throughout my professional journey, I have never hesitated to take on ambiguous roles or enter unfamiliar territories where I didn't have all the answers on day one. Rather than seeing a gap in my knowledge as an obstacle, I view it as an invitation to grow. I truly thrive in dynamic environments where the landscape is constantly shifting, because that is where learning is accelerated and real innovation happens.

My approach is rooted in an agile, growth-oriented mindset: I absorb new concepts quickly, remain open to diverse perspectives, and pivot smoothly when priorities evolve. By confronting complex challenges with intellectual curiosity, emotional resilience, and a drive for continuous self-improvement, I’ve been able to expand my domain expertise and consistently deliver high-impact results. For me, success isn't about knowing everything from the start—it's about having the confidence to ask the right questions, the grit to master new skill sets on the fly, and the vision to turn unfamiliar situations into meaningful strategic wins.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The most transformative career advice I ever received was simple yet profound: step fully into your confidence and trust the inherent value of your unique perspective. Early in my career, a mentor offered a reminder that permanently shifted my mindset: never apologize for making a valid point, sharing an original idea, or taking up space at the table. That single insight reframed how I viewed my own seat in the room. It taught me that self-doubt serves no one, and that owning your expertise isn't about arrogance—it's about honoring the work you’ve put in and the insights you bring to the discussion.

Ever since, I try to carry that lesson into every board room, strategy session, and high-stakes decision—though owning my voice is a practice I still work at every single day. I strive to approach critical conversations with clear conviction, advocate passionately for bold ideas, and communicate with clarity and purpose. By constantly pushing past self-doubt, I aim to show up as a stronger, more authentic leader, foster open dialogue, and drive meaningful, high-impact outcomes for the teams and organizations I serve.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: step forward with courage, trust your worth, and never hesitate to ask questions. True confidence isn't about having all the answers—it’s about knowing the value of your perspective and having the courage to seek understanding. Asking questions is never a sign of weakness; it’s your most powerful tool for accelerated growth and deep mastery. I encourage women to embrace steep learning curves, claim their seat at the table, and never apologize for seeking knowledge or voicing their insights. When you align unwavering curiosity with belief in your abilities, you create a momentum that opens doors across your entire career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Navigating and reshaping traditionally male-dominated sectors like technology and commercial banking remains both one of our greatest challenges and most exciting opportunities. While we’ve made real strides, there is still immense room to expand representation, amplify women's voices, and elevate female leaders into critical decision-making roles. I view this shift as a powerful catalyst: by bringing distinct perspectives to the table, we challenge outdated assumptions and unlock the kind of creative tension that drives real innovation. By actively sponsoring one another and championing incoming talent, we aren't just filling seats—we are building a more resilient, inclusive, and high-performing industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The principles that guide my decisions and leadership style are rooted in kindness, humility, and respect for every individual, paired with an unrelenting drive to produce creative, highly effective solutions. Recognizing that everyone carries unseen challenges, I try to approach every conversation with intentional empathy, patience, and an open door. For me, true executive leadership requires staying grounded while relentlessly pursuing excellence—valuing active listening and creative problem-solving just as much as hard work and operational rigor.

My approach to delivering high-quality solutions centers on combining data-driven strategy with relentless execution. When tasked with leading high-stakes organizational shifts, I make it a priority to look past quick fixes and instead engineer sustainable, scalable systems. From streamlining cross-functional workflows under tight deadlines to redesigning complex risk models, I measure success by the durability and precision of the outcome. By combining a strong work ethic with genuine approachability, I work to build high-trust, high-performing relationships and foster cultures where people feel valued, inspired, and empowered to deliver exceptional results.
