Her Story

About Claudia

Claudia Aguilar is a bilingual education leader whose career reflects a sustained commitment to improving outcomes for multilingual learners across the United States. Her path into education began as a Teach For America fellow in Miami-Dade County, where she spent three years teaching in an under-resourced school community. That formative classroom experience shaped her belief in educational equity and ultimately led her to pursue a Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy at NYU's Steinhardt School, deepening her understanding of the systemic factors that influence student success. In 2012, she transitioned into educational technology, drawn by the opportunity to scale high-quality instructional resources to a broader range of districts and classrooms.

For the past fourteen years, Claudia has built her career at Amplify, advancing steadily from an Engagement Manager role into her current position as Associate Director of Biliteracy and Multilingual English Learner Programs. Across roles spanning customer success, educational partnerships, and program management, she has consistently focused on strengthening the bridge between curriculum design and classroom implementation. Today, she leads Amplify's biliteracy and multilingual sales strategy while serving as a subject matter expert on product development, collaborating across sales, marketing, customer success, and professional development teams to ensure dual-language educators and their students are well supported. Her contributions have been recognized through her promotion to Associate Director and through invitations to represent Amplify at national conferences, including NABE and La Cosecha, where she translates classroom-level insights into product and strategic direction.

As a first-generation Latina immigrant, Claudia brings a personal dimension to her professional advocacy for multilingual education, viewing equitable access to quality instruction as both a career mission and a deeply held value. She remains active in the broader education community as a member of the National Association for Bilingual Education, the University of Virginia Alumni Association, and Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., where she previously served as chapter president during her undergraduate years. Outside of her professional life, she stays grounded through activities like spinning and hiking, and cherishes time spent with her young family, balancing her drive for impact in education with the values she holds closest at home.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Claudia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to confidence, a commitment to continuous learning, and collaboration — always staying focused on creating meaningful educational opportunities for multilingual learners. Trusting my own voice and embracing opportunities to lead have been instrumental in my growth. I also credit much of my development to the informal mentors and leaders who led by example throughout my career, particularly my current manager, Kajol, who has consistently challenged and stretched me. Above all, I try to keep students at the center of everything I do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The most valuable guidance I've received has come from my current manager, Kajol, who has been one of the most influential mentors in my career. Over the past five years, her leadership and investment in my professional development have shaped the way I lead and approach my work.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I'd tell young women to have confidence in their abilities — you know more than you think you do. Your perspective is valuable regardless of your title or years of experience, so don't wait for permission to contribute. Speak up, embrace leadership opportunities, and trust the value of what you bring to the table.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I see artificial intelligence as one of the biggest forces shaping education today, and it presents both opportunity and challenge. On one hand, AI can offer greater support for multilingual learners, more personalized instruction, and stronger tools for family engagement and diverse language needs. On the other hand, I'm mindful of the risks of overreliance, concerns about quality, and the sheer speed of change. Thoughtful implementation and strong educator training are essential to make sure technology enhances — rather than replaces — effective teaching.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Educational equity, integrity, collaboration, lifelong learning, and inclusion guide everything I do. I'm committed to ensuring every student has access to high-quality educational opportunities. I also prioritize keeping students at the center of my work, making sure teachers have the tools they need to be effective, and aligning my professional path with my personal values. Balancing those responsibilities with my family priorities is equally important to me.
