Her Story
About Claudia
I currently serve as a clinical liaison for Tulsa Rehabilitation Hospital, where I've been for about 4 months after transitioning from a 9-year career in respiratory therapy. My respiratory therapy journey began in 2017, and I worked through the entire COVID pandemic in various critical care settings including the ICU, Children's Hospital, respiratory care units, and long-term acute care hospitals. I developed deep expertise in respiratory care, particularly in tracheostomies and caring for trach patients. In 2025, I was honored to receive the BEE award as a respiratory therapist, which stands as my most notable professional achievement. I earned my Associates degree in respiratory care from Tulsa Community College in 2017 and hold ACLS and BLS certifications. As the first person in my family to graduate college and buy a home, I'm driven by a desire to do better for myself than what my family had done for themselves. In my current marketing role, I focus on spreading the word about our services and have learned to embrace rejection, knowing that one yes makes all the no's worthwhile.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Claudia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to my background. I'm the first one to graduate college and buy a home in my family. I would just say wanting to do better for myself than what my family had done for themselves. That drive to break new ground and achieve things my family hadn't been able to accomplish has been the foundation of everything I've achieved professionally.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I've been given throughout my career is to just keep your head up, keep positive, and everything will work out in the end. This advice has helped me stay resilient through challenges and maintain faith that things will ultimately fall into place.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have an open mind and a full heart. We take care of a lot of different patients from different backgrounds and different religions, and you just have to make sure that you care for these patients the same way and not be judging towards them. Just have an open heart towards everybody and just really love what you do. It's essential to approach every patient with the same level of care and compassion, regardless of their background.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is just, you know, in marketing, spreading the word out and taking the answer no as something that can propel you. You get a hundred no's, but that one yes feels amazing. So just accepting all of those no's and using them as motivation is key. Learning to embrace rejection and see it as part of the journey toward success has been crucial in my marketing role.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, definitely integrity, and just loving what you do. These three values guide everything I do, both professionally and personally. Being honest and maintaining integrity in all my interactions, while genuinely loving my work, are the cornerstones of how I approach life.
