About Claudia
I am a religious minister and founder of Heels and Tiaras Ministry focused on empowering women especially single mothers through faith-based conferences and workshops. I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in social services from Hunter College and am completing a master's in social work with concentration in child services. My work involves case management, social services and partnering with nonprofits like Emeralds of the Sea for sex trafficking survivors and Beauty Beyond the Pieces for domestic violence survivors. I attribute my drive to my own experiences as a single mom and the support of my parents.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My own personal experiences and life's challenges pushed me to succeed, along with a supportive village including my parents who stood by me since I became a single mom.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Make sure the career you choose draws passion out of you and is not just a job for money. I originally started nursing because of family but switched after realizing it was not my passion.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Follow your passion and shut the noise from naysayers who say women can't do it. Keep your eyes on the goal and use any negativity as adrenaline to keep going. It is still a man's world but when you know what you have been chosen to do, silence the intimidation.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include gender bias where people believe only men should lead in faith-based work and being Latino adds challenges. Opportunities include grant funding for women and our natural ability to recruit and bring women together creatively.
